Kristen Honig will discuss her observations, show her photographs, and present a brief, behind the scenes look at what it is like to be a wildfire photographer at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
 
Honig’s wildfire photos have been recognized by National Geographic and featured in magazines and publications, including Popular Science, Outside Magazine, High Country News, Wildland Firefighter Magazine, Fire Management Today and in the novel On the Burning Edge.

Cebollita Prescribed Burn Starts In March

SFNF News:
 
SANTA FE  To take advantage of favorable conditions, to include fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts, fire managers on the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) expect to begin a broadcast prescribed burn in March in the Cebollita area to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire.
 
As weather conditions permit, the Cebollita prescribed burn could take place anytime between March 1 and March 17.

A  56-year-old Las Vegas, N.M. man has succumbed to injuries sustained when he was struck in the head by a rock Feb. 5 at a White Rock gas station.

Mesa Public Library will open at 1 p.m. as opposed to the normal 10 a.m. opening on Wednesday, Feb. 14, due to Fire System Testing.
