Las Vegas, N.M. – Morgan Apperson of Los Alamos is a chemistry graduate at New Mexico Highlands University and is headed to a chemistry doctoral program at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.

Apperson, 22, graduates from Highlands in May with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, earning a 3.85 GPA to date. She begins her Ph.D. studies in August 2020, planning to focus upon environmental chemistry.

Los Alamos Firefighters Assist Hikers On Deer Trap Mesa

Scene this evening of Los Alamos Firefighters and EMTs responding to a couple of hikers in need of help getting out of Deer Trap Mesa near the trailhead. Initial reports indicate there are no serious injuries. Deer Trap Mesa extends east from Barranca Mesa and is named for a game pit found close to the start of the trail. The mesa is a natural area with fragile soil and it is not an appropriate spot for bicycles or horses. Crosswalk Improvement Project On Alta Vista Between Cerrillos Road And St. Francis Begins Monday

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Transportation would like to inform the traveling public that construction will begin Monday, April 6, on Alta Vista, between Cerrillos Road and St. Francis Road in Santa Fe.

Improvements include new pedestrian flashing beacons at the upgraded crosswalks along with ADA improvements.

Work is expected to be complete by May 30.
