Cinema Cindy Reviews: Beauty And The Beast
“Beauty and the Beast” opened in theatres on March 17 as a 3-D Disney movie, bringing to live-action the 1991 animated fairy tale. It is actually quite entertaining!
The French tale, La Belle et Le Bête, comes from an anthology written in 1740 by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. Liberties have been taken with the story ever since. But, for the modern viewer, the hugely popular 1991 animated Disney feature set a new standard for the tale. This newest version is meant to bring that story to live action, though the magical aspects still require CGI to pull it

Los Alamos Teen Explains ‘Fugitive’ Game
A question posted on the Keep It Local – Los Alamos Facebook page Friday by Lisa Bracy concerning a game called “Fugitive” played by local teens drew dozens of answers and comments over a 24-hour period before local teen Stephanie Nielsen explained it on the site.
Nielsen said parents who are concerned because local teenagers like to play games, should look at it from their point of view and went on to explain the game as follows:

EGGSTRAVAGANZA 2017: Donations Needed

It is time again to prepare for the annual EGGSTRAVAGANZA! Last year 15,000 plastic eggs (filled with goodies) were spread over the golf course.
More than 800 kids (ages 12 and under) raced to gather. It is always a great time for all ages of kids.
All kids are invited to attend. Please arrive early.

House Passes Ban On Conversion Therapy
STATE News:
SANTA FE – The New Mexico House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 121 Wednesday evening, a bill that would ban so-called conversion therapy for individuals under 18 years of age.
The bill is sponsored by Sen. Jacob Candelaria (D-Albuquerque) and Rep. Andrés Romero (D-Albuquerque). Conversion therapy, aimed at changing a person’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity, has been rejected by the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.

Local Trumpet Recital By Miriam Wallstrom Sunday
MUSIC News:
Miriam Wallstrom, a high school junior, will present her first trumpet recital at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at Fuller Lodge. Playing pieces on both a b flat trumpet and a piccolo trumpet, Wallstrom will perform works by Haydn, Albinoni, Sasche and a Dixieland jazz piece.
Jan McDonald is her music teacher and will accompany her on trumpet for several of her recital pieces. Cindy Little, well-known piano player, also will accompany her on the piano, and her friend Jenny Paige will play duets with her on the euphonium.
