UNM-LA Advisory Board Vacancy

UNM-LA News:

Michael DiRosa has resigned his position as a UNM-Los Alamos Advisory Board member due to a work assignment that will have him away from Los Alamos for the next two years. 

DiRosa was elected to the position in February of 2015.

“We appreciate Michael’s service on our Advisory Board,” UNM-LA Executive Director Dr. Cindy Rooney said. “His passion for higher education and his commitment to the success of our campus were evident in all of our interactions. We wish him the best in his new assignment.”

LAHS Students Launch Atomic Landscapes

To say that Los Alamos High School teacher Holly Phillips is proud of her students would be an understatement. This week, Phillips, a work study teacher was proud to announce that two of her pupils have taken the skills they have acquired to launch their own business.

Leo Marquez and James Larranaga have created Atomic Landscapes, which can be found on Facebook as they spring into business this month.

State Museums; Historic Sites Closed Easter Sunday

STATE News:
 
The four state museums in Santa Fe, the New Mexico Museum of Art and New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governor’s both located on the Plaza, and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and the Museum of International Folk Art both located on Museum Hill, will be closed Easter Sunday.
 
The museums will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29.
 
All state historic sites also will be closed on Easter Sunday;

The Northeastern New Mexico Regional Science & Engineering Fair was held at the beginning of the month at New Mexico Highlands University.
 
Los Alamos sent 69 projects and 74 students to the regional competition. Of the 69 projects presented by Los Alamos students, 35 received awards. 
 
The Los Alamos High School team project of Sophia Li and Jovan Zhang qualified for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair May 9-12 in Phoenix.
