Nicholas Conner, 35, of Los Alamos will serve four years in prison following sentencing handed down Tuesday by First Judicial District Judge T. Glenn Ellington. He is convicted of five counts of trafficking of methamphetamine.

Conner is one of seven people arrested and charged following Operation Spring Cleaning, a drug sting conducted last March by the Los Alamos Police Department.

Criminal Summons Filed For Karyne Archuleta In Los Alamos Embezzlement Case

A criminal summons has been filed in Los Alamos Magistrate Court for Karyne Archuleta of Espanola charging her with embezzlement of more than $17,500 from her former employer, Annette Weyrauch, owner of Physical Therapy Plus in Los Alamos.

Court documents indicate that Los Alamos Police Sgt. Tim Lonz met April 9 with Weyrauch who told him that Archuleta, then her office manager, had possibly embezzled the money from her over a two-year period.

Preliminary Hearing Continued For Stephen Montano

A preliminary hearing for Stephen Montano, 22, of Grants was again continued Friday in Los Alamos Magistrate Court and reset for Jan. 12, 2018.

Montano’s attorney Tyr Loranger had advised him to ask for the continuance to allow Loranger to review a video of an Aug. 25 shoplifting incident at Smith’s Marketplace, which resulted in charges of resisting or obstructing an officer, shoplifting and conspiracy for the purpose of committing shoplifting. Judge Orders Competency Hearing For Andrea Rivera

Attorneys in the Los Alamos Magistrate Court case involving Andrea Rivera, 30, of Los Alamos, have asked for a competence hearing for her. Rivera has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of tampering with evidence.

The charges relate to a Nov. 3 incident in which Rivera is accused of stabbing Cory Kerschner multiple times and also injuring her sister, Sarah Cooper, with a knife during the same incident. Three preliminary hearings have been set for Dec. 8 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court for Krista Wilhelm, 32, of Los Alamos on a variety of charges.

Craven Faces New Charge In District Court

John Craven, 35, of Los Alamos, has charged with a new offense in Santa Fe District Court just days after he  dodged a Nov. 28 evidentiary hearing on a probation violation before First Judicial District Chief Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer.

The District Attorney’s office failed to have Craven transported for the hearing and Judge Marlowe Sommer dropped the probation violation charge related to seven charges racked up during an Oct. 2 visit to 10,000 Waves Spa.

Grand Jury Indicts Former Espanola Teacher

A former teacher with Espanola School District, Gary F. Gregor, 61, was indicted by a Rio Arriba County grand jury Thursday on a charge of sexual offense against a child after allegedly causing a boy 12 years of age or younger to touch his genitals. The offense allegedly occurred between August 2006 and May 2007. The maximum penalty for this charge is six years and a fine of not more than $5,000.

County Employee Sues Under Fair Pay For Women Act

An employee working in the Los Alamos County Procurement Department has filed suit against the County under the Fair Pay for Women Act claiming that she is paid almost $12,000 less per year based on her gender than her male counterpart.
