The New Mexico Supreme Court has thwarted an effort by Los Alamos resident Greg White to prevent the Los Alamos County Council from appointing a councilor to replace James Chrobocinski who resigned June 1 due to health issues.

Fidel J. Naranjo Of Los Alamos Arrested Following Shooting Incident In Santa Fe County

Fidel J. Naranjo, 52, of Los Alamos has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following a May 31 incident in Santa Fe County in which he shot another man, Michael Gonzales in the leg.

Naranjo also is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against Andrew Gonzales and Monica Tarango and carrying a firearm while under the influence of an intoxicant or narcotic.

FBI: Silver City Felon Charged With Unlawfully Possessing Firearms

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE – Michael Scott Freeman, 42, of Silver City made his initial appearance Tuesday in federal court in Las Cruces on a criminal complaint charging him with violating the federal firearms laws by unlawfully possessing firearms. 

The firearms at issue allegedly were stolen during a home burglary in Aug. 2017.  Freeman remains in custody pending a preliminary hearing and a detention hearing both of which have yet to be scheduled.

For the second time since May 26, an arrest warrant is in effect for Nichole Lynn Borrego, 28, of Chimayo.

Borrego is charged with the theft of a Ruger 45, a 38 Special Colt revolver, a .38 Smith & Wesson BNP model revolver and a Colt .380 as well as a camera valued at $800 between April 13 and May 3 from a home she was being paid to clean in Los Alamos.

An arrest warrant is in effect for Damien Marquez, 24, for the alleged beating of a local man May 18 outside the Veterans of Foreign War Post on Deacon Street, which left the victim with serious facial injuries requiring surgery at an Albuquerque hospital.

FBI: Navajo Man Gets 15 Years For Child Abuse

ALBUQUERQUE Brian Lee, 31, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Breadsprings, was sentenced May 24 in Federal Court in Albuquerque to 15 years in prison for his conviction on child sexual abuse charges.
 
Lee will be on supervised release for ten years after completing his prison sentence. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.
 
Lee was arrested July 13, 2017, on a two-count indictment charging him with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 on two separate occasions between July 2012 and July 2016, on the Navajo Indian Reservation
