P&Z Hearing on Bandelier Shuttle Facility is Wednesday

P&Z News:

A Planning and Zoning Commission hearing is set for 5:30 p.m., Wednesday May 9 in the Training Room at Pajarito Cliffs Building 1, 101 Camino Entrada, on a request for approval of a site plan for a shuttle service facility for Bandelier National Monument with mobile vendor spots to be located at 40 and 50 Rover Blvd. near the corner of N.M. 4 and Rover Boulevard.

The meeting is open to the public.

Firefighters Promoted During Special Ceremony

During a special ceremony Monday at Fire Administration on East Road, three firefighters were promoted. From left, Battalion Chief Paul Grano will supervise the C Shift, Battalion Chief Kelly Sterna will oversee training and exercises related to Los Alamos National Laboratory. Newly promoted Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Trehern is a second generation firefighter. He worked in LANL’s Fire Protection Division for 13 years and has been with LAFD for 22 years. He will be in charge of operations and will supervise all three fire shifts at LAFD. His father, Jim Trehern, was the last fire chief

Iris Street Offsite Work Winding Down

The offsite work on Iris Street from the Municipal Building Complex Project is on-going and is anticipated to be completed in mid to late May. County officials explain that this schedule has slipped some compared to last month’s projections due to unforeseen complications with existing utility infrastructure located beneath Iris Street. Curb and gutter has been installed along the south side of Iris Street and work on drive pads is anticipated to start within the next two weeks. Mitchell Trailhead Work Session Set for Monday

TRAIL WORK News:

IMBA’s local chapter, the Los Alamos Singletrack Association (L.A.S.A) is holding a trail work session from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday May 7 at the Mitchell Trailhead.

Volunteers will work on some maintainanece items on the Perimeter Trail toward the cemetary, and are asked to wear long pants and sturdy shoes.

It will be a relatively short and easy trail work session and it will be led by Craig Martin, local trail guru and trailmaster.

L.A.S.A’s goal is to help promote the Los Alamos trail community and welcome all types of trail enthusiasts.

18 Volunteers Sought for Senior Appreciation Night

Volunteers are needed for the community-sponsored graduation celebration event known as Senior Appreciation Night (SAN), including someone to wear a monkey suit.
 
Numerous parents have volunteered, but 18 volunteers are still needed to fill two or three-hour shifts from 6 p.m. until 2:30 a.m., Saturday May 26.
 
A henna tattoo artist also is needed.
 
SAN is an all-night, safe, supervised downtown graduation celebration sponsored by several business and community organization.
