During meeting’s on Tuesday May 15 and Wednesday May 16, the Los Alamos County Council will discuss which proposed Phase II Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) will be funded and allowed to move forward and which will not.

In the following survey, the Los Alamos Daily Post is asking readers to rank the order in which they would like to see the unfunded Phase II CIP projects completed.

The option, “Do not proceed” is provided for projects the reader does not want to see funded by Los Alamos County.

The Los Alamos County Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a site plan for a shuttle service facility for shuttles to Bandelier National Monument. The shuttle service facility will be located at the corner of State Road 4 and Rover across the street from the White Rock Visitor’s Center and Conoco gas station, on what is now a vacant lot. Council Approves Motions Relative to Initiative, Referendum, Repeal and Charter Amendment

Council approved replacing all parts of the existing Charter pertaining to Initiative/Referendum/Recall/Charter Amendments. Council votes 6 to 1 to approve Charter Amendment Alternate 2 removing the requirement for legal review prior to circulating petitions. Council voted 6-1 to approve Charter Amendment Alternate 2 relative to the referendum motion again removing the same legal requirement, 6-1 to approve the Charter Amendment relative to Recall and 5-2 to approve additional repeal language for each ordinance reviewed. Mesa Public Library’s Authors Speak Series presents Frances Levine speaking on a fascinating topic of  colonial New Mexico’s history. In this New Mexico Centennial year, Dr. Levine will touch briefly on the one hundred years of New Mexico’s statehood and then explore Governor’s wife Doña Teresa’s role in the state’s colonial past. New Mexicans and visitors alike will be sure to find the topic engaging and intriguing. The Authors Speak is on Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Upstairs Rotunda at Mesa Public Library.
