“There’s nothing to do” is a commonly stated phrase, especially in small towns. The Los Alamos County Community Services Department is striving to prove this statement wrong through its 100 Days of Summer Program.

Los Alamos Police Department Seeks Identities Of Two Female Suspects In May 31 Shoplifting Case

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two female suspects seen in video surveillance footage from a shoplifting incident May 31 at a store on Central Avenue.

LAPD is offering a reward of up to $150 to anyone who has information on the identity of the two suspects.

Anyone with information can call L.A. crime stoppers at 505.662-8282. Reporting individuals can remain anonymous.

Los Alamos County Airport Manager David Ploeger is retiring later this year and his career is ending on a high note. Ploeger was awarded Airport Manager of the Year during the Annual State Aviation Conference May 11 in Ruidoso.

Get On The Bus! ACT Offers Free Rides During Summer Concert Series Every Friday

Don’t forget! The DWI Planning Council is partnering with Atomic City Transit (ACT) to provide bus service Friday nights to ensure residents get to and from the Summer Concerts at Ashley Pond Safely. This service extends the regular weekly fixed route service provided by ACT. Service areas will include White Rock, North Mesa, and North Community. Dial-a-Ride service will be available for any location in Los Alamos not serviced via the fixed routes. Reservations can be made one day in advance. Call 661.RIDE (661.7433). With the recent withdrawal from the Paris agreement on climate change, cities and towns around the country are developing independent plans to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. As our community’s very existence is predicated on science, we should be among them. A very simple and effective way that we can reduce our carbon footprint would be to use a portion of the now available CIP funds to install solar panels on our larger county facilities.

Family Escapes Injury Following Lightning Strike At Los Pueblos Home This Evening

Los Alamos Fire Chief Troy Hughes told the Los Alamos Daily Post a few moments ago that everyone in the home struck by lightning this evening on Los Pueblos got out without injury.

Chief Hughes said the fire is now out, adding that the home has sustained some damage due to the fire that broke out in the attic from the lightning strike and investigators are on scene. Read More
