Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved rezoning the Entrada Business Park from heavy commercial to mixed use during its regular meeting Tuesday night in Council Chambers.

County Linemen Rescue Cat Stranded 4 Days In Tree

Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities linemen Randy and Wayne responded today to the scene of a cat stranded without food or water for four days some 40 feet up in a tall ponderosa tree, near 41st Street and Sycamore.

The linemen traveled in the bucket of their truck up the 40 feet to rescue the weakened cat. Their mission was accomplished in about 10 minutes, according to a neighbor.

Davey Trees To Audit DPU Pole Attachments

Beginning next week, Davey Tree Service Inc, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will audit all utility pole attachments and identify potential powerline hazards in the Los Alamos townsite and White Rock area. This includes auditing attachments from telecom and cable utility companies.

Flat Jack Spotted On Central Avenue Promoting Halloweekend In Downtown Los Alamos Oct. 27-28

Flat Jack was spotted Tuesday on Central Avenue near CB FOX Kidz, in front of the Teen Center on 20th Street and in front of Fuller Lodge. The skeleton is created from chalk and painted on the local roads using sewer grates for his rib cage.

Los Alamos Creative District Curator Ryn Herrmann made the Flat Jack template to promote Halloweekend Friday Oct. 27 and Saturday Oct. 28 in downtown Los Alamos.

Road Paving Underway On NM 4 Through Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Final paving of N.M. 4 between East Jemez Road and Hwy 502 is scheduled for today and Wednesday.

To minimize traffic disruption, the Department of Public Utilities’ contractor will coordinate paving of lanes to occur at times with the least traffic.

Paving of southbound lanes are scheduled for this afternoon (two-way traffic will be maintained). Late Wednesday morning, paving of the northbound lane will occur and should be completed before 3:30 p.m. with two-way traffic again will being maintained.​ Read More
