Calling Young Artists For 2018 Dog Jog Logo Contest

Tails are wagging all over Los Alamos in anticipation of the 2018 Los Alamos Dog Jog and Fun Walk, Saturday, April 28 at Rover Park in White Rock.

The Dog Jog is an annual fundraiser for the Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals (FOSCA), that provides funding for spay/neuter surgeries and for catastrophic veterinary care for pets.

The Dog Jog Committee is calling on all creative young artists to put their imaginations and love of dogs to work by submitting a drawing for the 2018 Dog Jog Logo Contest!

In honor of Heart Month, the Los Alamos Heart Council is hosting a free community seminar by Dr. Kayvan Ellini of the Presbyterian Heart Group.

The seminar is 5:30 p.m., March 6 at First Baptist Church, 2200 Diamond Dr.

The objectives of the seminar, Fantastic Journey Through Your Heart: New ways to Treat Heart Disease include:

  • Innovations in devices for treatment of heart disease;

Voices Of Los Alamos: One Year Later

This February, Voices of Los Alamos is celebrating one year of successfully bringing people together in action by holding meetings, getting involved politically, and supporting local actions.

Some activities Voices participated in last year include Day Without a Woman with 200 participants in March, March for Science with 2,500 marchers in April, and a vigil for protesters killed in Charlottesville with 80 attendees in August.

In honor of Kindness Week, the UNM-Los Alamos Student Government organized a Teddy Bear Drive to collect stuffed animals for the Los Alamos Police Department. The Los Alamos County Library System presents the celebrated acoustic duo Hungrytown, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Pajarito Room at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave. in Los Alamos.

This is a free concert sponsored by the Los Alamos County Library System and the Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries.
