‘Rhythm and Rhyme’ Springs to Life Friday

The dancer is constructed out of old records painted in a kaleidoscope pattern. A slight touch to her circular hips sets her dancing. As the sculpture sways to a rhythm all of its own, the theme of the Fuller Lodge Art Center’s newest show, “Rhythm and Rhyme” also seems to spring to life.

The whole show, Art Center Director Ken Nebel said, “is inspired by poetry, in one way, shape or form.”

Artists produced work inspired from poetry in writing, music or life experience.

LAAC’s Brown Bag Series Presents ‘Petra and the Jay’ Wednesday

LAAC News:

Los Alamos Arts Council is presenting for its April 4 Brown Bag Series, “Petra and the Jay” excerpts from the original sci-fi musical book and lyrics by Cary Neeper, music by Alice B. Kellogg, directed by Alicia Solomon.

Always free, always entertaining, take a lunch break at the Brown Bag Performance series in Fuller Lodge.

The full opera will be presented April 13 and 14 at Crossroads Bible Church.

Environmental Scientist Chick Keller Speaks Today at Kiwanis Luncheon

April 3-Environmental scientist Chick Keller will discuss Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) Earth Day events scheduled April 21 and the Nature Center capital improvement project.

April 10-Los Alamos Kiwanis President Kristy Ortega will speak on what she learned at the recent Kiwanis Southwest District Midwinter Conference in Las Cruces.

As part of her talk, Ortega will present detailed information on the Kiwanis International campaign to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, a huge killer in poor countries.

Chuck Tallman Presenting Talk on Portugal

Member Chuck Tallman will present details and show photographs from his recent trip to Portugal during this week’s Rotary Club meeting.

Club members are being asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Nambe’ Room upstairs in Fuller Lodge.
