Northern Holds Heritage Arts Show & Reception

 

NNMC News: 

 

Northern New Mexico College is holding a Heritage Arts Show to highlight the work of continuing education students on Wednesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 27 at the Nick Salazar Center for the Arts in Española.

 

The show will be preceded by a reception 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 where community members can meet Northern’s student artists.

 

The art show will feature Spanish Colonial Furniture, Fiber Arts, and Retablos/Bultos created as part of Northern’s continuing education courses in heritage arts.

8th Annual Run For Her Life 5K And 10K Results

Run For Her Life News:

 

Sunday’s 8th Annual Run For Her Life 5K and 10K Races sponsored by the Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah began at East Park in Los Alamos.
 
Donald Gleason was the overall winner of the 5K distance recording a 32:20 and the first female was Laura Loy with a 32:50.
 
In the 10K race Lynn Bjorklund was the top finisher coming in at 49:28 and her brother Mark Bjorklund was the best male finisher recording a 50:19.

Distinguished American pianist Garrick Ohlsson will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6 in the Duane Smith Auditorium in Los Alamos. Presented by the Los Alamos Concert Association, he will play works by Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert.

Ohlsson remains the only American to have won Warsaw’s prestigious International Chopin Competition. His gold medal performance in 1970 launched a career that takes him to great concert halls around the globe.

Third Annual Run 4 Your Life 5K May 5

The 3rd Annual “Run for Life!” 5K Run/1 Mile Walk is Saturday, May 5. The registration fee is $25 for adults, $15 for students, $5 under 12 and $20 per person for groups of eight or more adults. Packet pick up begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. May 5.
 
Both the 5K Run and 1 mile walk will begin and end at the cul-de-sac at the top of Santa Clara Peak Rd, in Español, (just past MVD and Magistrate Court).
