SFNF: French Mesa Prescribed Burn Underway

USDA Forest Service fire crew ignite forest fuels Tuesday in the French Mesa fuelwood area of the Coyote Ranger District on the Santa Fe National Forest to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire. Up to 1,000 acres of hazardous fuels may be treated per day by hand and air ignitions in the French Mesa fuelwood area. The total prescribed burn area is 3,580 acres. Courtesy photo

Jack Ammerman is the winner of the 2018 Constitution Day Poster Contest. President Dawn Voss of the Los Alamos Federated Republican Women presented Ammerman with a $100 cash prize.

The award ceremony was held Sunday at Urban Park during the Constitution Day Picnic sponsored by the Republican Party of Los Alamos.

Scouts, Other Organizations Invited To Be Color Guard For Los Alamos County Council Meetings

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Council invites Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, along with other local organizations, to serve as Color Guard at any Council Regular Meeting or Work Session.

Presentation of the flags by a Color Guard can occur at the beginning of any Council meeting on a Tuesday at 6 p.m. in either Council Chambers or White Rock Fire Station 3. The presentation is followed by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
