SFCC’s Paid Internship Program PILAS Seeks Businesses And Students To Participate In Spring 2019

SANTA FE Santa Fe Community College announces the continuation of the successful PILAS Internship Program (Programa de Internos, Los Alamos) for the Spring 2019 semester, beginning January 2019.
 
The program gives students the opportunity to work with area businesses and nonprofits to gain valuable, employable skills while earning an hourly wage paid by SFCC. Los Alamos National Security, LLC, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and SFCC Foundation funded this program.

Summit Garden Club Meets Today

Summit Garden Club’s monthly meeting is at 1:30 p.m., today, Nov. 5, at the White Rock Presbyterian Church at 310 Rover Blvd.
 
Members and guests will learn the art of making grapevine wreaths. Participants should bring items for decorating their own wreaths. One large wreath will be donated to the Festival of Trees Nov. 17.

As part of their four day, statewide tour to reach every corner of the Land of Enchantment, U.S. Sen. Martin Martin Heinrich and U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham will hold a rally at 4 p.m. today at 1362 Trinity Dr., Suite B near Viola’s Restaurant.

LAHS Key Club Participates In ‘Single Service Project Day’ Filling Gabion Baskets At County Landfill

Some 36 Key Club members spent the club’s annual ‘Single Service Project Day’ Saturday, Oct. 27, working at the Los Alamos County Landfill. They spent almost three hours filling ‘gabion baskets’ with recycled glass and fastening the baskets together into a long line designed to prevent soil erosion at the top of a hill.
