LATA Leads List of Top Revenue Companies

A Los Alamos Company stood out among New Mexico’s top high-tech companies recognized last week for their achievements by New Mexico Flying 40, which annually honors the state’s fastest-growing companies.

Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA), 999 Central Ave., led the list of Top 10 revenue companies for the second consecutive year.

Ruby K’s Remodel Includes Express Window

Ruby Alexander, owner of Ruby K’s Bagel Café at 1789 Central Ave. #2, is working with Los Alamos Architect Steven Shaw to remodel her restaurant. Her remodeling ideas target a more convenient process for ordering food from Ruby K’s. Families who want to picnic at Ashley Pond will soon be able to pick up their lunch through an express window at Ruby K’s. Busy scientists will be able to order lunch from work and it will be ready when they drive up to the downtown restaurant. The inside will be arranged so that the line will flow and people will have more personal space. Anyone with additional ideas

Jazz Night at the Blue Window on Saturday

 
The Blue Window will host a Jazz Night featuring the Ryan Finn Jazz Trio 7-9 p.m., Saturday June 23.   
 
Tickets are $15 per person and dinner reservations are required.   
 
Finn recently moved back to Northern New Mexico after seven years teaching and performing music on the island nation of St. Lucia in the West Indies.
 
He plays trombone, Andy Zadrozny will play upright bass, and Loren Bienvenue will play th drums.

Visitor Center Reconstruction Continues Following Runaway Vehicle Incident

The White Rock Visitor Center on Rover Boulevard Wednesday shows reconstruction efforts are still in progress following a runaway vehicle collision on May 2. Massive damage occurred to the Visitor Center from the unoccupied vehicle that left the nearby gas station, gained speed across the adjacent parking lot and smashed with surprising force into the side of the brick building. Trinity Capital Corporation Announces Dividend

LANB News:

Trinity Capital Corporation (Trinity), the holding company for Los Alamos National Bank (LANB) and Title Guaranty & Insurance Company, today announced a dividend on its common stock.

The dividend of $0.15 per share will be paid to shareholders of record as of June 30, 2012 and payable on July 13, 2012.

Trinity is a bank holding company with $1.5 billion in total assets and has 341 employees.

LANB is currently in its 49th year of operation, and offers financial services at its main office in Los Alamos, an office in White Rock, three offices in Santa Fe and two offices in Albuquerque.

LANL Helps Medicine, Cosmetics and Crop Irrigation Businesses Gain Traction

LANL News:

Three small companies in the diverse fields of medicine, cosmetics and crop irrigation are the latest recipients of Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) awards from the Los Alamos National Security, LLC.

Integrative Enzymatics, Vapour Organic Beauty and HydroBio will receive startup funding from the Laboratory to help them gain traction in their respective markets.

“The VAF program fills a unique need by providing capital that reduces a company’s risk,” said David Pesiri, the Laboratory’s Technology Transfer Division leader. “VAF is a catalyst for start-ups as well

Artist Michelle Stump Reconnects with the Creative

Early in the morning Michelle Stump set out on the north side of the Pueblo Canyon RIm Trail, which starts next to the dog park near the Los Alamos Animal Shelter.

She had her camera and new wide-angle lens with her and was surprised at how easy and accessible the side trail to Graduation Point was from the Canyon Rim.

Once she had hiked into the upper part of the canyon, before her was a tremendous drop and the view was just magic.

FAN Club is Wednesday at Betty Ehart Senior Center

This month’s FAN (Food and Networking) Club meets from 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Chamber members are invited to attend and learn more about this organization and its goals and projects and network with fellow Chamber members.

The Betty Ehart Senior Center, the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization and the Alzheimer’s Association are hosting the June FAN Club to introduce people to the local Memory Walk organization.

The event is sponsored by Los Alamos Retirement Community.

Food is provided by the chef of Aspen Ridge Lodge.
