IRS Offers Free Tax Help

Note: This is the ninth in a series of reminders to help taxpayers prepare for the upcoming tax filing season.

PHOENIX — As tax filing season approaches, the Internal Revenue Service is reminding taxpayers free tax help is available online, by phone and in-person. The IRS encourages taxpayers to take advantage of the online tools and resources at IRS.gov. Many taxpayers, who don’t want to wait, can get answers to tax questions right away at IRS.gov.

Man Wearing Albuquerque Dukes Baseball Cap Tries To Rob Albuquerque Bank

FBI News:

A man wearing a black Albuquerque Dukes baseball cap tried to rob a northeast Albuquerque bank Tuesday and fled in a black Chevy Malibu.

The suspect is described as a white male, possibly Hispanic, in his late 20s, and approximately 5’6″ to 5’9″ tall, with a slender build. He had a short beard. He wore a black baseball cap with a blue Dukes logo, a black sweatshirt, baggy black pants and eyeglasses.

IRS: Time Is Running Short For 2016 Tax Moves

IRS News:

PHOENIX — The Internal Revenue Service wants taxpayers to know they have some time left to make any final tax moves for the 2016 tax year.

“There are many opportunities for taxpayers to legitimately reduce taxes or defer income as the year winds down,” IRS spokesman Bill Brunson said. “A little tax planning now could save you time and money later.”

ALBUQUERQUE – As momentum for higher wages and the call for a $15 minimum wage grows across the nation, working families in New Mexico will see some increases in their state’s minimum wage in 2017.

Starting on New Year’s Day, working families in some New Mexico municipalities will get a boost in their paychecks. While these wages are an increase on the paltry minimum wage offered by the federal government, they are far from that $15 an hour that would approach a living wage.
