LWV News:
This month, the League of Women Voters Lunch with a Leader will feature Susan O’Leary and the Department of Public Utilities Charter Review Committee. The event will take place at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Mesa Public Library.
To order a lunch from the Co-op for $10, contact Karyl Ann Armbruster at 661-6605 or kaskacayman@gmail.com before Oct. 13. You do not need to purchase lunch to attend. Everyone is welcome.
The talk will center on the Department of Public Utilities Charter Review Committee that was created early in 2013 to evaluate the current County Charter, which, among other things, defines the current organizational structure of the Department of Public Utilities and the roles and responsibilities of the Utilities Manager, Board of Public Utilities, and, as related to the utilities operation, the County Administrator’s Office and County Council.
The Committee was made up of three “citizen” members, Ed Birnbaum, Kirk Christensen, and Susan O’Leary, as well as County Councilor Steve Girrens and Board of Public Utilities Chair David Powell. O’Leary, with the help of the other members of the committee, will review their final recommendations to Council and be available for questions and discussion on the issues.
