Superintendent Of Insurance Russell Toal Encourages New Mexicans To Sign Up For Health Care Coverage By Aug. 15

OSI News:

The United States Supreme Court once again affirmed that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is constitutional.

A lawsuit pushed by Attorneys General in 18 states failed to pass muster, sealing the 2010 health reform as the law of the land. Medicaid expansion and health insurance marketplaces will continue to serve Americans.

“Thirty-one million Americans rely on the Affordable Care Act for their health coverage,” said New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance Russell Toal. “Now we can get down to the serious business of reducing premiums and out-of-pocket costs for New Mexicans and getting more uninsured people covered.”

New Mexico’s Health Insurance Marketplace, beWellnm, is open for enrollment through Aug. 15, and the recently passed American Rescue Plan makes coverage far more affordable for New Mexicans.

“If you don’t get health insurance through your job or a public program like Medicaid or Medicare, the only place you can get financial help to lower your health insurance costs is BeWellNM.com.” Toal said. “Four out of five people who qualify can find a plan for $10 or less. Now is the time to get your family the protection of affordable health insurance.”

With the Supreme Court’s ruling, the health law’s consumer protections also remain in place.

“Despite what you might have heard, pre-existing conditions must be covered,” said OSI Life and Health Division Director Julie Weinberg. “Avoid scams by shopping for coverage on BeWellNM.com.”
