Girl Scout Camp is open to all girls in 1st through 12th grade. The camps help girls get outdoors, learn about conservation, develop new skills, make new friends, and learn how to make the best s’more ever.
There are two Girl Scout camps, each offering different camp experiences.
Rancho del Chaparral is a traditional camp in the Jemez Mountains near Cuba. Activities at Rancho include hiking, horseback riding, arts & crafts, nature exploration and archery. The camp sessions include choices of learning to horseback ride, ProChef cooking challenges, outdoor adventure, art and much more.
Camp Elliott Barker is a rustic high adventure camp next to Carson National Forest in Angel Fire. A highlight of this camp is the challenge and high ropes course, which now includes a brand new zipline.
Barker also functions as a base camp for the summer campers, with field trips including: canoeing at Eagles Nest, rock climbing at Tres Piedres, river rafting the Rio Grande, and of course coming back to camp and enjoying traditional camp activities.
