Steven Fode Charged With Reckless Driving After Hitting Pedestrian in Downtown Los Alamos Today

POLICE News:

Today at approximately 11:16 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to 119 Central Park Square near the Los Alamos Post Office in reference to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash.

Officers and medical personnel arrived on Main Street approximately 50 yards north of Central Avenue to find an elderly woman laying in the roadway with apparent injuries. Medical staff transported the victim to the Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved, 25-year-old Steven Fode of Santa Fe was interviewed by investigating officers and arrested and charged with reckless driving. The vehicle Fode was driving was a 2006 Chevy mid-sized truck.

Fode has a history of arrests going back to 2011, on the New Mexico Courts website, that include charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.

The Los Alamos Police Department is still investigating this crash, therefore, Main Street will remain closed for a couple more hours. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time. Any witnesses to this crash are encouraged to contact the police department to assist in this investigation at 505.662.8222.
