SFNF Rescinds Rincon Fire Closure Order

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Friday rescinded the Rincon Fire closure order that restricted access to a portion of the Pecos Wilderness to protect public health and safety during fire operations.
The closure order went into effect June 16.

State Police Divers Recover Flood Victim’s Body In Carlsbad
NMSP News:
CARLSBAD — At around 10 p.m., June 29, 2021, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP), was alerted to a vehicle that drove into flowing floodwaters near the intersection of Boyd Drive and Monterrey Road in Carlsbad.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2003 Jeep Wrangler driven by John Paul Koch, 63, of Carlsbad was traveling west on Radio Boulevard.
For unknown reasons, Koch drove past road-closed barricades and into flood water that was rapidly flowing over the roadway.
The Jeep overturned several times and was swept away in the Dark Canyon Draw Arroyo.

Los Alamos County reports zero new cases today so the total remains at 538 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

FBI: Colorado Woman Faces Up To 20 Years In Prison If Convicted Of Bank Robbery Charges In Albuquerque
FBI News:
ALBUQUERQUE — Keylee Rose Moore, 21, of Hesperus, Colo., made an initial appearance June 28 in Federal Court facing a charge of bank robbery.
Moore remained in custody pending a June 30 detention hearing.
According to a criminal complaint, June 1, Moore allegedly entered a bank on Louisiana Avenue in Albuquerque and handed a demand note to a teller. After the teller handed money to Moore, Moore allegedly walked out of the bank and fled.
The FBI received a tip June 6 identifying Moore as the person who allegedly robbed the bank. Moore was arrested June 17 at her residence in Hesperus.

Bighorn sheep spotted Thursday grazing on the southeast corner of the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. The ‘Gorge Bridge’ is a steel deck arch bridge across the Rio Grande Gorge 10 miles northwest of Taos. NCRTD Buses To Begin Operating At Full Capacity Tuesday
RTD News:
Upon the re-opening of the State of New Mexico, RTD Blue Buses will eliminate capacity restrictions effective Tuesday, July 6. Additionally, reservations will no longer be mandatory on routes previously requiring them.
Federal law also requires passengers and drivers (with limited exceptions) to wear a properly fitting mask at all times while on-board. Social distancing is encouraged when possible.
The NCRTD will continue to take aggressive measures to clean and disinfect passenger vehicles and provide air circulation.
