New Mexico Unemployment Rate 7.6 Percent In July 2021

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.6 percent in July, down from 7.9 percent in June and down from 12.5 percent in the previous year.
The national unemployment rate in July was 5.4 percent, down from 5.9 percent in June and down from 10.2 percent in July 2020.
Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 33,100 jobs, or 4.3 percent, between July 2020 and July 2021. Nearly all gains came from the private sector, which was up 32,500 jobs, or 5.4 percent.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Aug. 20: 871 New Cases, Totaling 223,796 With 9 New Deaths And 199,401 Recovered
SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced Friday 871 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reports 3 new cases bringing the total to 596 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 9 new deaths in New Mexico Friday related to COVID-19.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 169 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 1 new case in Catron County
- 69 new cases in Chaves County
- 9 new cases in Cibola
Rockfall Mitigation Project On Main Hill Road Runs Long
Although N.M. 502 was expected to reopen at 3 p.m. today, Los Alamos County was notified that the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) rockfall mitigation project was still underway late today and Main Hill Road didn’t re-open as scheduled.
