Virtual Town Hall Discussion On Work Search Requirements To Receive UI Benefits & Resources Wednesday Oct. 14

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) is hosting a virtual town hall discussion, Wednesday, Oct. 14, in regard to work search requirements for Unemployment Insurance (UI) in New Mexico.
This requirement, which had been suspended due to the COVID-19 crisis, will be reinstated for New Mexicans receiving regular state unemployment insurance, Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), and Extended Benefits Oct. 18.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 389 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County remains at 37 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 4 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 130 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 19 new cases in Chaves County
- 13 new cases in Curry County
- 83 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 21 new cases in Eddy County

SFNF: Smoke Visible From Interior Of Medio Fire
SFNF:
A green pocket of fuel surrounded by black inside the Medio Fire perimeter is burning, putting up visible smoke but posing no threat to any values at risk.
Local fire resources are monitoring the interior pocket which is about a quarter of a mile from the Medio Fire’s eastern edge.
Fire managers anticipated the possibility of unburned pockets of fuel igniting and generating smoke until winter weather settles into the area.

Small Business Saturday Gross Receipts Tax Holiday Nov. 28

This year’s Small Business Saturday New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax Holiday is Saturday, Nov. 28.
For this one day, the state suspends collection of gross receipts tax on sales of qualifying items at certain small businesses.
The tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 and concludes at midnight Saturday, Nov. 28.
During that time the law provides a deduction from gross receipts for retail sales of qualifying tangible personal property; in effect allowing the retailer to sell the items “tax free”.
