Anna Marie Lujan

State Treasurer’s Office News: 

SANTA FE — The New Mexico State Treasurer’s Office (STO) is pleased to announce that Anna Marie Lujan has joined the State Treasurer’s Office as its new Chief Financial Officer. Lujan officially began her role on Monday, July 20, 2026, bringing more than two decades of experience in public finance, budgeting, accounting, and government administration.

Lujan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) from New Mexico Highlands University. Most recently, Lujan served as Court Financial Operations Manager for the Second Judicial District Court, where she oversaw fiscal operations and budget management. She previously held financial leadership positions as Fiscal Manager for the City of Albuquerque’s Health, Housing, and Homelessness Department and as Court Executive Officer (CEO) / Court Financial Officer (CFO) for the State of New Mexico Fourth Judicial District Court.

“Anna Marie’s experience will be a great addition to our outstanding team,” said New Mexico State Treasurer Laura M. Montoya. “I want to thank outgoing CFO Mr. Joseph Cohen for his leadership and for passing the baton to Anna Marie, ensuring a smooth transition.”

“I am honored that Treasurer Montoya selected me to serve as Chief Financial Officer and share more than two decades of experience in government finance with the STO team,” Lujan said. “I have dedicated my career to ensuring fiscal accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public resources and look forward to working with Treasurer Montoya and her team.”

The State Treasurer’s Office is also pleased to welcome Anabel Varela, who recently joined the State Treasurer’s Office to provide administrative support to the Treasurer. “We are excited to have both Anna Marie and Anabel on our team and look forward to their service to the people of New Mexico.”
