State Police Investigate Plane Crash Near Española

ESPAÑOLA – Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, a small, single engine plane crashed in the vicinity of the Ohkay Owingeh Airport near Española.
 
Officers confirmed two fatalities and no survivors on board. Due to the extent of the destructive nature of the crash, officers are still working to identify the aircraft and the identity of the deceased. The Office of the Medical Investigator is working to determine the identity of the deceased.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted and will arrive this morning to conduct an investigation into the cause and nature of the crash.
 
This crash remains under investigation. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
