SILVER CITY — The New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, in partnership with the Water Trust Board, invites interested entities to attend workshops to learn about water project funding opportunities from the New Mexico Unit Fund. Applications are due by Aug. 25, 2026.
The New Mexico Unit Fund provides funding for the planning, design, and/or construction of water utilization projects in Hidalgo, Luna, Grant, and Catron counties in southwest New Mexico.
Visit the Interstate Stream Commission website to review the current application requirements, access the online application portal, and request technical assistance.
Workshops are scheduled as follows:
- 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 22: Silver City Grant County Conference Center, 3031 U.S. 180 in Silver City; and
- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 30: virtual workshop via Zoom.
The Interstate Stream Commission prioritizes getting NM Unit Fund money to communities throughout southwest New Mexico and is on track to execute agreements for 14 critical projects funded through last year’s cycle.
“We are excited that the 2026 funding cycle kicks off a new round of funding opportunities for Southwest New Mexico communities, including providing funding for eligible construction projects.” said Hannah Riseley-White, director of the Interstate Stream Commission.
To make the most of the workshop experience, participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet, project information or supporting materials and questions related to their potential application.
