- Pool fun and adventures are kicking off at the Walkup Aquatic Center
Beginning Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11, the Aquatic Center kicks off with the Spring Fling at the pool.
The obstacle course will be up and running 1-3 p.m. each day. The Aquatic Center also offers a discount for youth 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, the Aquatic Center is launching a new program: an in-pool egg hunt. Admission is $2.50/child, and all youth – ages 16 and under – are invited to hunt for colorful eggs in the water. The limit is 150 youth, and all participants are invited to stay a while and enjoy the pool.
Friday, April 25, a Double Dive-in Feature: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 – 7-8:45 p.m. The lights are dimmed, the float toys are out, and the big theater-like screen will go up for the movie. Advance ticket sales are available at the Aquatic Centers front counter for $5. Admission includes treats, a glow necklace, and fun in the pool during the movie.
Beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, April 25, the Los Alamos Teen Center and Walkup Aquatic Center have teamed up to co-sponsor a movie night for teens. Feature movie, The
Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The late-night movie will include pizza – sponsored by the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board – and free admission to all high-school age teens – sponsored by the DWI Planning Council.
