Coyote Killing Contests Bill Passes Key Committee

STATE News:

SANTA FE — Sen. Jeff Steinborn passed bipartisan legislation through the Senate Judiciary Committee Saturday to end the practice of coyote killing contests in New Mexico.

“Today New Mexico is one step closer to banning inhumane coyote killing contests. This blood sport serves no purpose in the management of coyotes other than killing for the sake of killing. It’s time to make these contests a thing of the past,” Sen. Steinborn said.

This bill now goes to the senate floor for final passage and then, if passed, to the House for consideration in that body. Read More

  • 2017 Pace Race Season Begins April 4
 
The 44th season of the pace race series conducted by the Atomic City Road Runners Club begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 at the Canyon Rim Trailhead parking lot across from the Los Alamos Co-operative Market on East Road (State Route # 502).
 
The Club meets Tuesdays through early October at various locations throughout Los Alamos County.

Registration Open For Y Youth Soccer Ages 4-7

YMCA News:

The Family YMCA’s Little Youth Soccer is an introductory program for youth ages 4-7 that would like to learn the basics of soccer, team participation, and to play a few casual games.

Registration for this program opened March 1. Players will meet twice per week for practice and games, April 17 through May 25.

Volunteer Coaches, Asst. Coaches and Team Parents are needed. There is a coaches training clinic 6-7:30 p.m., March 10 in the Y Gym.
