Golf Course Improvements Long Overdue

Improvements to the Los Alamos Golf Course are long overdue. The last major capital improvements to the course occurred in 1970 and its irrigation system is 30 years old.

If passed, the $20 million recreation bond would provide an estimated $4.5 million to fix up the golf course. The proposed project would install a new irrigation system, aerate tees and fairways, improve greens and drainage, fix T-boxes and perform some bunker restoration. Read More

The Nukes Rugby Club from Los Alamos and the United World College (UWC) Montezumas squared off last Friday evening at Sullivan Field for some rugby rumble. 

UWC has students from at least 65 countries, ages 16-19. There team had players from at least eight countries, which made for a very interesting roster.

Emily Cox Shines In Gymnastics Championship

Emily Cox, a 7th grader at Los Alamos Middle School that attends Zia Gymnastics in Santa Fe was selected to compete in the Regional Championship that includes the best gymnast from New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming.
 
The event was April 15 in Albuquerque.
 
Cox’s performance amazed the audience and judges alike as she scored a 9.375 on Floor, 9.4 on Vault, 9.4 on Bars and a 9.375 on Beam. Her 37.55 all around placed her in a three way tie for 4th place!
