Accelerator Lists Teams For ABQid Ski Lift Pitch Contest

ALBUQUERQUE  ABQid, Albuquerque’s startup accelerator, announced the teams that will compete at the second annual Ski Lift Pitch Contest at Taos Ski Valley Tuesday, March 1.
 
The winner will receive a $10,000 grand prize.
 
 
The pitch contest pairs startup founders with venture capitalists (VCs) and industry leaders on Taos Ski Valley chair lifts. The startup founders make their pitches as the elevation rises, giving each entrepreneur a unique opportunity to make a meaningful connection with an investor.

Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers won both genders of the 2016 District One Swimming and Diving Championships held Feb. 5-6 at Genoveva Chavez Community Center in Santa Fe.

Topper Boys’ Basketball: The Good, Bad And Ugly

Saturday night the district leading Capital Jaguars came to visit the Hilltopper boys’ basketball team. To borrow the title of a Clint Eastwood western, the results were a combination of the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good was that the Topper junior varsity won in a rout – 63 to 38.  The Junior Toppers were led in scoring by 6’5” sophomore Ivan Balakirev with 15 points, 5’7” freshman guard Elijah Velasquez with 10 points and five steals, and by 6’7” junior post Cade Gasway with 12 rebounds and 8 blocked shots.

Soto Pushes Better Pay For Critical School Employees

STATE News:

SANTA FE – Sen. Daniel Ivey-Soto, D-15-Bernalilo, has introduced legislation to increase the pay of some low paid school district employees to improve their economic circumstances.

Currently, the minimum pay rate for school district cafeteria staff, school bus drivers, and all non-certified school personnel and educational assistants is $6 per hour. The Ivey-Soto bill, SB 152, will increase wages for these employees to $15 per hour and will be heard in Senate Education Committee tomorrow.
