LAHS Senior Orion Henderson Named Swimming High School All-America In 200 Individual Medley, 500 Freestyle

Los Alamos High School senior Orion Henderson was named High School All-America for swimming by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) for his 200 individual medley and 500 free performances at the New Mexico state high school meet on May 15.

Henderson’s times of 1:50.69 for the 200 IM and 4:35.37 for the 500 freestyle handily bested the state meet field.

His two individual wins helped propel the Hilltopper boys to their second straight state team title this past season.

Los Alamos High School senior Kelly Wetteland and her sister, sophomore Anna Wetteland, who recently moved here from Maryville, Tenn., were named High School All-America by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) for their performances at the TISCA Tennessee state high school meet held April 24-25 in Knoxville.

Kelly finished second at the meet in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.14) to earn All-America status.

Anna Ferenbaugh, 12, is the top predictor in the Atomic City Road Runners weekly pace race held Tuesday at East Park with a 6 second differential off her predicted time as well as the first female finisher in the 1 mile distance at 10:43.

Y Golf Tournament: Cash, Hole-in-One Prizes, Gift Certificates

Y News:

A $20,000 prize will be awarded to each golf player who hits a hole-in-one on the 17th green during The Family YMCA’s Annual Golf Classic on Friday, August 27, at Los Alamos Golf Course.

Round trip domestic air travel for two, a Sharp LED Smart TV, and Callaway Irons (3-PW) are hole-in-one prizes at holes 2, 6 and 15 respectively, said Y CEO Chris Daniels.
