SOS Maggie Toulouse Oliver Takes Oath Of Office

Newly elected  Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver (D), was sworn in to office Friday afternoon by State Supreme Court Justice Ted Baca to a standing room only crowd. Gary and Yolanda King, Rep. Brian Egolf, Justice Judith Nakamuraand Albuquerque City Counselor Pat Davis as well as many other New Mexico officials were in attendance. Toulouse Oliver’s mother, Cindy Chapman, held the Bible while her 7-year-old son Max Oliver stood with them. Outgoing Secretary of State appointee Brad Winter said a few words before Toulouse Oliver took the oath of office. She will complete the two year term left vacant when Republican SOS Dianna Duran resigned in 2015 after being convicted on embezzlement and money laundering charges. Courtesy photo
