After a 7-0 victory over the Albuquerque AYSO EM Timbers at the New Mexico State Soccer Complex in Bernalillo, the Duke City Soccer League’s Girls U11 Lasers soccer team moved into second place in the challenge bracket with a record of three wins, one loss and two ties.
In prior weeks, the Lasers beat the Corrales Cheetahs 1-0 and the Amarillo Yellow 2-1. They tied with the ABQ AYSO United Bolts, which are ranked in first place, 0-0 in a hard-fought match in their first game of the season held the last week of October.
In boys’ action, the U11 LAFC Krypton Lasers beat the Albuquerque AYSO United EM Elements 3-0 the last week of October. Taelin Stanfield scored the first goal after dribbling past several EM Elements defenders. Druhv Thulasidasan scored the second goal after a nice sequence of four straight passes starting with a cross field defensive switch from Cam McDonald to James Ito to Hayden Watkins then up field to Sammy Brown-Salazar who then found Thulasidasan for the score.
The last goal was lofted over the keeper by Thulasidasan after an assist from Linnhtet Htoon. McDonald was player of the match because of a great game on defense, stopping numerous attacks. The Lasers are now 4-3.
