BANDELIER News:

Thousands of people around the nation will gather to take part in a one-night event called the Great American Backyard Campout Saturday, June 28.

Join us in your “backyard” at Bandelier National Monument from 6-11 p.m. for fun family activities. Staff will offer free food, free camping and no entrance fee for participants.

Activities include:

  • 6-7 p.m. – Did you say free food? Feast on hot dogs, chips, watermelon and lemonade provided by the Friends of Bandelier. Grab a dog and a seat at the Juniper Campground amphitheater.
  • 7 p.m.-9 p.m. – After dinner, join Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott for a sunset stroll on the Tyuonyi Overlook Trail. This is an easy flat two mile roundtrip walk.
  • 9 p.m.-11 p.m. – Relax under the stars during a night sky program with constellation tours and telescope viewing.

Bandelier National Monument encourages participants to set up camp for the night at Juniper Campground to enjoy these activities. Bring your camping gear and have fun!
