A bad transformer was the cause of last night’s outage on Sioux Street in the North Mesa neighborhood. Reported at 6:30 p.m., approximately 120 Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ customers were without electricity.
DPU’s electric line crew initiated temporary repairs by back feeding electricity to restore power by 9 p.m.; permanent repairs will continue today, Jan. 24.
Crews will plan a 30-minute outage affecting eight customers, to complete the repairs. The time of this planned outage is not yet determined. The remaining Sioux Street customers will experience a brief 10-minute outage as the new transformer is tied into the electric distribution system.
