Joni Holub was tired of constantly getting emails from friends and family warning her about companies that say that their products are organic or natural, but who are actually lobbying against GMO labeling, or companies that are supposedly green, but leave a huge carbon footprint.

She was getting discouraged because so few companies walk their own talk. “It was getting to the point where I didn’t know who to trust,” Holub said,

That’s why Holub was so happy to learn about Shaklee. Holub is now an independent Skaklee distributer in Los Alamos.

The Shaklee Corporation is the first company in the word to become Climate Neutral® Certified, which means they offset 100 percent of their carbon emissions and thus have a net-zero impact on the environment.

Every ingredient that is used in Shaklee products is tested for over 350 contaminants. If Shaklee finds a contaminant in any ingredient they won’t use it and if they can’t find a pure source for that ingredient they will take that product off the shelf, Holub said. Because of Shaklee’s obsessive dedication to the quality of their products, there has never been a recall on a Shaklee product.

“They are so different and valuable because you know you’re getting a pure product,” Holub said.

Holub has dedicated her life to alternative healing. She ran a massage and polarity therapy business for 10 years in Los Alamos. She attended Dr. Scherer’s Academy of Natural Healing for Massage Therapy training, studied Polarity Therapy in Taos and herbal medicine and homeopathy at Northern New Mexico College.

Holub recently completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Development/Healing Arts from Prescott College in Prescott, Ariz. and is studying to become a life coach at the International Coaching Academy.

The International Coaching Academy’s life-coaching program is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), which means that Holub has to meet a rigorous set of requirements before she will be certified as a life coach, she said.

“The reality is that anyone can call themselves a life coach because the life coaching field is not regulated by the government,” Holub said. “There’s a huge spectrum in levels of training.”

ICF is a self-regulating system that has put forth standards for life coaches. Holub plans to finish the requirements this spring.

As a coach, she plans to use a holistic approach to helping her clients move from where they are to where they want to be in life.

“You need to balance all aspects of your life in order to move forward in self-integrity,” she said.

Offering Shaklee supplements and nutritional products will be one part of Holub’s future coaching practice because nutrition is a key component to living a well-balanced life, she said.

“We all lead busy lives. It’s really hard to eat the way we should be eating and so much of our food is void of its intended nutrition because of bad farming practices,” Holub said. “It’s important to supplement so our body can get the optimal nutrition.”

Other important ingredients to living holistically include removing the toxins from our water with good filtration and by cleaning our homes with totally green products, using skin care products that are free of harmful chemicals and full of vitamins and reaching a healthy weight in a way that enables you to maintain it, she said.

Shaklee has products that meet all these needs and Holub feels comfortable recommending them to family and friends because Shaklee has earned a level of trust that most companies simply don’t deserve, she said.

“Part of the problem with dieting is that you lose muscle and muscle is responsible for your metabolism,” Holub said. “When you lose muscle mass you lose the ability to lose weight.”

Shaklee weight loss products are full of leucine, an essential amino acid that targets fat and helps you maintain muscle, Holub said.

“For years I bought organic cleaning products off the shelves in health food stores that were not effective, and I ended up using more,” Holub said. “Shaklee cleaning products are always green, highly effective and concentrated, so you don’t use as much packaging.”

Those interested in trying some of the Shaklee products may call Holub at 505-412-0007 to schedule a party. Party hosts get free products and discounts when their guests make their orders.  She is also looking for dedicated, self-motivated people who are passionate about health and the environment to join her team and become Shaklee Distributors.
