SFNF: Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Closure Jan. 15

SFNF News:
SANTA FE  All Santa Fe National Forest offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Forest offices will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Jan. 16.
In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr’s legacy, the Santa Fe National Forest will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites and amenities Monday, Jan. 15. Fees will be waived at Santa Fe National Forest sites that normally charge a day-use fee and campgrounds that are not on the National Recreation Reservation System
Since many recreation sites on the Santa Fe National Forest are closed for the winter, visitors are encouraged to contact the appropriate Ranger District Office to determine which sites are open and will waive fees.
Fees at national forests and grasslands will be waived at many day-use sites, such as picnic grounds and developed trailheads, to encourage Americans to get outdoors and enjoy their public lands. The Forest Service waives fees in cooperation with other federal agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. The remaining fee waiver dates for 2018 are:
  • Jan. 15, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Feb. 19, Presidents Day
  • June 9, National Get Outdoors Day
  • Sept. 22, National Public Lands Day:  http://www.publiclandsday.org/
  • Nov. 10-11, Veterans Day weekend
