SFNF Announces Holiday Office Closure Dates

SFNF News:

/All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.

President Trump signed an executive order Dec. 11 to make Christmas Eve a federal holiday this year.

Forest offices will resume virtual business hours Monday, Dec. 28 and Jan. 4, respectively.

Cut-your-own Christmas tree permits are still available online at Recreation.gov, over the phone by calling forest headquarters or any of the SFNF district offices, and in person at Pancho’s Minute Men Shell Station at 9 S. Main Street in Pecos. Call Pancho’s at 505.757.2620 to confirm permit availability.

As part of the national Every Kid Outdoors initiative, fourth and fifth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass are entitled to a free Christmas tree permit. For more information about Christmas tree permits, review the SFNF press release and the Christmas tree permit webpage.

If you plan to visit the Santa Fe National Forest over the holidays, know before you go and “be outdoor safe.” Check the weather forecast and be prepared for seasonal fluctuations. In the interest of public health and safety, please follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance and comply with state public health orders to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
