Barry Wellman, University of Toronto, will speak on “The Triple Revolution: Groups to Social Networks, Personalized Internet, Mobile Access” during the upcoming SFI Colloquium at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 in the Noyce Conference Room at the Santa Fe Institute, 1399 Hyde Park Road in Santa Fe.
Abstract: I discuss the structural changes that have facilitated the turn to social networks.
I show how digital media — the Internet and mobile devices — have been both responded to and amplified the social network revolution in how people connect in the community, the household and at work.
