SFCC Recognized For Green Practices

SFCC News:

SANTA FE  Santa Fe Community College has been awarded an honorable mention in Second Nature’s Higher Education Climate Leaders Competition.

The award is a partnership between Second Nature and the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). It recognizes higher education institutions that create a sustainable environment and incorporate green practices on their campuses and in the curriculum.

A leader in clean energy and sustainability, in 2007, SFCC became a Charter Signatory to the Carbon Commitment (formerly known as the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment or “ACUPCC”). The college continues to strengthen that commitment through a systemic approach to managing campus life with policies and procedures that support sustainability.

Second Nature is a national nonprofit that works to build a sustainable and positive global future through collaboration with leadership networks in higher education, and Climate Leadership Awards recognize innovative and advanced leadership in sustainability, climate change mitigation and resilience at college and university campuses that participate in Second Nature’s climate commitments.

Santa Fe Community College was recognized with Johnson County Community College in Overland, Kansas and Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Read SFCC’s profile on the Second Nature site http://secondnature.org/awards/santa-fe-community-college/.
