SANTA FE – Santa Fe Community College is responding to the demand for trained welders. Due to increased student and employer demand, Santa Fe Community College, 6401 Richards Ave., will offer late afternoon/evening welding sessions starting Tuesday, Sept. 6.
“There is high demand for skilled welders at Los Alamos National Laboratories, as well as with other employers,” Welding instructor Jake Lovatosaid.
The two late-starting classes begin at 3:45 p.m. Weld 111 (Shielded Metal Arc Welding I), Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Weld 115 (Oxyacet Welding, Cutting and Allied Processes), Tuesdays and Thursdays. Three other welding classes (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Gas Metal and Flux Cored Welding I and Introduction to Metallurgy) begin Oct. 17.
