SFCC Announces Free English As Second Language Classes

SFCC News:

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) announces it will offer a free 14-week English as a Second Language (ESL) session from Aug. 17 to Nov. 19. Prospective students must attend one two-hour orientation/registration session at either 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. on Aug. 10, 11 or 12 in the Adult Education office, Room 503 at SFCC, 6401 Richards Ave, 87508. The two-hour orientation will include testing and placement as well as registration for the courses. Classes are offered at SFCC and at Sweeney Elementary School.

Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 16 years old and not a current student in a K-12 school
  • Must be a resident of New Mexico

How to Register:

Attend one of the orientation/registration sessions in the Adult Education office in Room 503 at the SFCC campus, 6401 Richards Ave. 87508. Prospective students only need to attend one two-hour session.

Orientation Schedule:

Orientation sessions begin at 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. (no late arrivals) on the following dates:

  • Monday, Aug. 10
  • Tuesday, Aug. 11
  • Wednesday, Aug. 12

Orientations are limited to 30 participants. Arrive on time. Only future students may be present.

Additional guests will not be permitted in the orientation area.

Classes meet twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on the level. Morning and evening classes are available at SFCC. Evening classes are also offered at Sweeney Elementary School. Free childcare for children ages 4 to 12 is available for evening students at Sweeney Elementary School. Students are expected to attend classes twice a week.
