Senator Heinrich Issues Statement On Veterans Day

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich

From the Office of U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement in recognition of Veterans Day.

“I am so proud to recognize the thousands of New Mexicans who have demonstrated great courage in service to our nation. Our state has a rich tradition of answering the call of duty, from the Navajo Code Talkers, Bataan Death March survivors, and Korean and Vietnam War GI’s to more recent veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. That tradition continues today among the brave men and women serving at Cannon, Holloman, and Kirtland Air Force Bases, Fort Bliss, White Sands Missile Range, and all across the world.

“We must be unwavering in our commitment to our men and women who have served. They deserve so much more than just words of gratitude for their sacrifice when they return home. Our ability to maintain the strongest and most dedicated military in the world depends on our nation’s ability to keep the promises we have made to veterans and their families. We must provide them with the best care, benefits, and opportunities they earned. I will never stop fighting to ensure our veterans and their families, who have sacrificed so much, receive the best education, housing, and health care.

“On Veterans Day, and on every day, I join all Americans in honoring those who have served in our military and those who continue to serve our great nation.”
