Seattle Band Western Centuries Plays Pond Tonight

SUMMER CONCERT News:

The Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series presents the Seattle band, Western Centuries, a country band from Seattle in a free concert at 7 p.m., today at Ashley Pond Park.

“A country band from Seattle?” you might ask. Yeah, well Seattle ain’t Nashville! These guys are rooted in classic country but with a twist. They’re more like the great country-rock bands, The Band, the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Byrds and Gram Parsons. As Steve Teller of KSFR says, “Country music as God intended it.”

Western Centuries play a wide range of styles from Zydeco to honky-tonk, from rock to rhythm & blues. Yes, they’re kinda country but they blend good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll with honky-tonk twang. They are a thinking man’s band that plays 2 stepping music, line dance stuff and music that you can dance to like nobody’s watching. They are in Los Alamos to entertain!

Our band has three tremendous songwriters and lead vocalists. Maybe you’ve heard of Cahalen Morrison? He’s one of their vocalist/ songwriter and guitarists. His past bands were Cahalen Morrison and Country Hammer as well as Cahalen Morrison & Eli West. Other members are songwriters/singers Ethan Lawton and Jim Miller (formerly of Donna the Buffalo.) Rusty Blake plays pedal steel guitar and Dan Lowinger is on bass.

Friday night is LA Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos Commerce & Development Night. The next day is ChamberFest, so, friends, we have two parties this weekend. DK & the Affordables play Saturday morning on Central Avenue.

Next Friday, June 16 will be LA Daily Post Night starring LA’s favorite band, the Red Elvises! Lots of fun and great rocking!
