SIPAPU News:
This past Saturday, Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort hosted the third annual Mountain Community Clean Up Day with the Boy Scouts of America Great Southwest Council. Boy Scout Troop 3 from Albuquerque, NM participated in this year’s event.
Troop 3 helped clean up the mountain in the Carson National Forest by combing the trails to pick up trash that’s accumulated over the winter ski season.
In all, the volunteers picked up more than 70 pounds of trash. The Scouts even found a few treasures, including Mardi Gras beaded necklaces.
Sipapu treated the Scouts to lunch for their hard work, then hosted a disc golf tournament. The Scouts were also able to do a little fishing in order to earn their fishing merit badges.
Mountain Clean Up Day is a great way to start the summer season at Sipapu and keep the mountain clean for all of its visitors and wildlife.
Summer activities officially kick off Saturday, May 26.
Once again this summer, Sipapu features free fly fishing classes on Saturdays beginning this Saturday, May 26. The class is taught by certified fly fishing instructors from Solitary Angler. The hands-on lessons cover fundamentals including how the fly rod, reel and line work together, how to cast overhand and backhand, and how to shoot line out and strip line in. Reservations are required by calling Solitary Angler at 575.758.5663.
Other activities at Sipapu include trout fishing, disc golf, hiking, camping, and more.
