COURT News:

Robert F. Schmitt, 41, received a 90-day suspended sentence Oct. 23 from Judge Alan Kirk in Los Alamos Municipal Court and was placed on three months of supervised probation on a charge of criminal damage to property of less than $1,000.

Schmitt was arrested Sept. 18 at Smith’s in White Rock for slashing a tire on a truck belonging to another Smith’s employee. Los Alamos Police Department had been called to the store in response to a domestic dispute involving Schmitt. They were called back a little later in response to the report of the slashed tire.

Police reviewed store video surveillance and observed Schmitt pull up next to the truck, approach the tire, kneel and return to his vehicle before driving off.
