Scenes From Summer Reading Award Presentation

The summer school program held at Mountain Elementary School came to a close July 26. The closing ceremonies were highlighted by the presentation of the results of the reading program carried out all summer. Each book the students read to an adult would result in a $2 reward. At the time of completion the students  received a $2 certificate for each book read. On the last day of classes, each student received a check made out to them for the amount they earned over the summer. The reading program resulted in 510 books read over the summer, deemed a resounding success. Photo by John McHale/ladailypost.com
