SPORTS News:

It was an unusually nice spring day at Rio Rancho High School for their Rust Buster Track & Field Meet on Saturday – neither snowing nor a sandstorm, as has been the case in the past few years, and the LAHS athletes posted some excellent marks.

For the girls, qualifiers for the State Championship included Elena Abeyta in the 200 m, Rebecca Green in the shot put, Liz Lockhart, Sophie Wood, and Abby Beus all in the triple jump, the 4×100 m relay team of Elena Abeyta, Claire Ticknor, Liz Lockhart, and Ona Gartz, and the 4×400 m relay team of Ona Gartz, Maddie Beck, Jazmine Tuning, and Elena Abeyta.

For the boys, Liam Johnson once again easily exceeded the state qualifying mark in the pole vault.
