Staff Report

The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Donald A. Larson Assembly 0688 of Los Alamos organized Monday’s annual Memorial Day Celebration at Guaje Pines Cemetery.

The event, “The Courage to Serve and Those That Gave All,” was introduced by Master of Ceremonies Sir Knight Tony Colletti, Faithful Navigator. The Los Alamos High School NJROTCl presented the colors. Father Glenn Jones gave the Invocation and Benediction.

Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard read a State Proclamation and Los Alamos County Council Chair Geoff Rodger read a County Proclamation, followed by the placing of the wreaths.

Guest of Honor, Major General (retired) USAR Doug Anson addressed the gathering. Anson is director of the Department of Defense Strategic Development in the Strategic Outcomes Office at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for more than 20 years. He also recently retired as a Major General, US Army Reserves, after serving for 33 years including 23 years on active duty.

The Ceremony included a Fly Over by the Los Alamos Civil Air Patrol. Singers Rachel Anaya, Jeff Kolski and Clara Szymanski provided music for Monday’s event, which was followed by a lunch at the Knights of Columbus Hall on DP Road that included remembrance and socializing.
